BURLINGTON ? In a double dual to conclude the regular season Thursday in Burlington, the Fairfield swim team posted a victory against the host Grayhounds 66-36 but lost to Keokuk 57-44.

Top sprinter Rachel Swanson had the best day for the Trojans gathering victories against both Burlington and Keokuk in the 50-freestyle (26.94) as well as the 100-freestyle (59.96). While Swanson has been battling illness, it was her final tune up for the regional meet coming up Oct. 31 at Cedar Rapids Washington.
Last year, Swanson was the only Fairfield swimmer that made it through regionals qualifying to the state meet in the 50-freestyle in a time of 25.79.
In the 66-36 win against Burlington, the Trojans posted individual wins in six events in addition to Swanson?s two victories. Individual winners included Makenzie Kauffman in both the 200-IM (2:38.03) and 100-backstroke (1:06.68). Abby McMahon tacked on one more in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:20.02.
