Truck, van collide on Washington Street

Mt. Pleasant Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, April 26, in the 2100 block of East Washington Street.

The investigation revealed that a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, owned by Hastings Automotive of Minnesota and operated by David Stensgaard of Cottage Grove, Minn., was facing north in a private drive, waiting to pull out into the roadway.

A 2003 Chevrolet Venture van, owned by Wiley Nesbitt Inc., of Mt. Pleasant and operated by Lyle Triska of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling west in the outside lane and had the right-of-way in the travel portion of the road.

The Dodge Ram truck pulled out into the street to cross the roadway to enter another private drive, and pulled in front of the silver van, leading to the collision.

There were no injuries. Damage to the Dodge truck was estimated at $3,000, and damage to the silver van estimated at $5,000.

Stensgaard was cited for failure to yield entering a through highway.
