WASHINGTON — Dozens of students turned out for educational reptile-related activities in Central Park Friday, for the Washington Public Library’s first “Friday Funday“ program since before the pandemic.
“Washington school districts have early outs on Fridays two days a month, and we usually do activities those times,” said librarian Jenisa Harris, who coordinated the event. “COVID last year, of course, prevented that. This year, while it’s nice, we thought we could do some of those outside.”
The theme of the program on Friday was snakes and turtles, an attraction Harris said had been popular in the past.
“It’s really educational, the kids usually get to hold the turtles and snakes, which they love a lot,” she said. “I feel like kids like creepy, crawly things. I’ve done the program a few years before, and it’s been super successful … You get animals and kids together and they have a great time.”
