Two arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A traffic stop near New London led to two arrests on drug charges.
According to a news release from Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee, on Jan. 11 at 7:46 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 grid of Highway 34, near New London, for a traffic violation.
Upon approaching the driver, later identified as Isaac Booker Sawyer, 40, of Burlington, deputies were notified Sawyer had a barred driving status through the state of Iowa, the release said.
A second vehicle later arrived on scene driven by a Haley Ann McDowell, 25, of Fairfield.
“After further investigation, a search was conducted on both vehicles and items found included amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, distribution materials and prescription pills,” the release said.
Resulting from the investigation Sawyer was arrested for driving while barred, possession of controlled substance – third or subsequent offense (D Felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor), and cited for speeding and fraudulent use of registration.
McDowell was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription drugs (serious misdemeanor), possession of controlled substance (serious misdemeanor), and theft – fifth degree (serious misdemeanor).
