Two charged with OWI on Valentines Day
Two men were arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated during the romantic holiday.
Brian Francis, 39, of New London, was arrested on Feb. 14, 2015, at approximately 12:25 a.m. by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office. Two men were arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated during the romantic holiday.
Brian Francis, 39, of New London, was arrested on Feb. 14, 2015, at approximately 12:25 a.m. by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office. According to police documents, deputies were on a routine patrol when they observed Francis? vehicle swerving on the roadway. Deputies made a traffic stop near Penn Avenue on Highway 34. After investigation, it was determined that Francis was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with an OWI, a serious misdemeanor, as well as driving on the wrong side of the highway, a simple misdemeanor.
At 1:58 a.m., deputies also conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation on Highway 34 near Penn Avenue.
Police reports indicate Trevell Henderson, 20, of Coralville, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. Henderson was also charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age, a simple misdemeanor, and speeding.
While being processed at the Henry County Jail, Henderson was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was subsequently charged with bringing contraband into the jail, a class D felony.
On Feb. 12, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff?s Office responded to a complaint of a vehicle traveling north on New London Road and swerving all over the roadway.
Police records indicate deputies performed a traffic stop at 290 Street and New London Road where Vallas Albin, 59, of Gladstone, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor, and driving on the wrong side of the road, a simple misdemeanor.
A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
