Two die in motorcycle collision

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene after they were thrown from their motorcycle in a head-on collision with a pickup truck near West Chester Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the motorcycle was Ronald D. Rozema, 57, of DeKalb, Ill. and the passenger was Lynn M. Rozema, 55, of DeKalb, Ill. The two occupants of the pickup were transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where they were treated for their injuries. The driver of the pickup was Randall J. Graber, 56, of Washington, and his passenger was Jerri L. Graber, 52, of Washington. Both occupants of the pickup were wearing seat belts.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. Saturday on Highway 92 a few miles east of West Chester. According to the Iowa State Patrol?s accident report, the pickup was eastbound on Highway 92 when it crossed the centerline and collided with the motorcycle head-on, which was traveling in the westbound lane. The occupants of the motorcycle were thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the north ditch. Both occupants appeared to be wearing helmets. Their bodies were transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny. The pickup came to rest in the westbound lane. The pickup was a 1998 GMC Sierra and the motorcycle was a 2010 Honda.

Highway 92 near West Chester was blocked to traffic early Saturday evening while the Iowa State Patrol investigated the collision.

The Iowa State Patrol has not announced any charges as of Monday morning. Washington County Attorney Larry Brock said in an interview Monday that he had not received any charges from the Iowa State Patrol.
