Two FHS speech groups selected to All-State

Fairfield High School's speech team brought down the house at the Iowa High School Speech Association's state competition Feb. 2 at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids.
All nine of the groups that made it to state received a 'I” rating overall. Two groups received special accolades, being named All-State Outstanding Performances. Those two groups are the Group Mime 'Short Circuits” and the Short Film 'Flu Season.”
The film 'Flu Season” will be shown at the All-State Festival for Large Group Events Saturday on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames. The cast of that film consists of Devika Pharasi, Cahrina Chang, Leone Gichure-Marira, Paige Carlson, Emma Carlson, Logan Nelson, Tejah Kingsbury, Emma Sanner and Ella Weigert.
Members of the group mime 'Short Circuits” are Amber Burroughs, Gerda Fiske, J.J. Funkhouser, Michael Hunt, Gabriel Zimmer and Alex Forrest.
The other seven acts that received a 'I” at the state competition are: the One Act Play 'She Kills Monsters,” the Readers Theatre '13 Reasons You Should Stop Being a Pirate,” Ensemble Acting groups 'Almost Maine: Getting it Back” and 'The Undiscovered Part of the Ocean,” the Musical Theatre Groups 'The Greatest Showman,” and 'Mama Mia” as well as the short film 'Ready or Not, Here I come.”
