Two men face OWI charges following traffic stops

Two motorists were arrested during the early morning hours of Feb. 21, for operating while intoxicated and other charges.

Sheriff?s deputies conducted a traffic stop at 1:06 a.m., for a speeding violation in the 2300 grid of Franklin Avenue.

Benjamin Frank, 32, of Mt. Pleasant, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; and speeding, a simple misdemeanor.

Just over three hours later, at approximately 4:44 a.m., deputies stopped another vehicle for a speeding violation in the 2300 grid of U.S. Highway 34.

Colin McGriff, of Muscatine, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. McGriff was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor; possession of alcohol under the legal age, a simple misdemeanor; and speeding, a simple misdemeanor.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
