Two sent to hospital after head-on collision on 78

BRIGHTON – A head-on collision resulted in two people being taken to the Washington County Hospital, one with pending charges for operating while intoxicated.
At around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of a two-vehicle, head-on accident on Highway 78 near Toadflax Avenue, east of Brighton.
It was reported that one person was trapped and another was potentially ejected.
The vehicles had both rolled onto opposite sides of the road into the ditches. Air Care was called but was later canceled while enroute.
On the rainy day, traffic on both sides were stopped, some choosing to turn around.
Linda Coop of Wayland and Heath Krabill of Mt. Pleasant were transported to the Washington County Hospital.
There are charges pending for Krabill for possession of controlled substance methamphetamine third offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated first offense and assault on persons in certain occupations.
Brighton Fire Department, Brighton QRS, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff's Department, Washington Rescue, Washington County Ambulance, Iowa Department of Natural Resources Officers responded to the scene.
