Two Tigers make an impressive list

The Hawk Eye, has for the past 30 years, picked a group of area athletes as finalists for the Female and Male Athletes of the Year. This year there are six males and six females vying for the honor.

This year, two of the six male athletes are from New London, which in and of itself is impressive. Kade Benjamin is nominated for his achievement in track and field and basketball. Blaise Porter is nominated for his achievement in basketball and football. Congratulations guys!

It is also appropriate to congratulate Abby Bence on her nomination in four sports. Although from West Burlington, she has deep New London roots. Her mom, Lisa Worden Bence is a 1997 NLHS graduate and her dad Ben is a longtime New London social studies teacher.

The winner will be announced in the Aug. 12 issue of the Hawk Eye. Good luck to all the nominees.
