Mt. Pleasant Police Department officers recently investigated a pair of vehicle-pedestrian accidents.
The department responded to a van-pedestrian accident on Sunday, Nov. 8, in the parking lot of the Pilot Truck Stop.
According to the police report, a 1997 Dodge van, operated by Randy Stevenson, of Birmingham, was backing toward a dumpster when the van struck Michael Waterman, of Danville, who had been walking in the parking lot.
Waterman was evaluated by Henry County Ambulance personnel and denied transport to the Henry County Health Center. There was no damage to the van.
Police also investigated a personal injury accident on Friday, Nov. 6, involving a dump truck pulling a pup trailer and a young child.
The investigation revealed that a dump truck, operated by John Sutak, of Wever, was traveling west in the 500 block of West Washington Street. Simultaneously, there were children playing in a yard on the north side of Washington Street. One of the children came near the road and either slipped or tripped on the curb, falling into one of the tires of the pup trailer as it passed.
The child was transported by a family member in a private vehicle to the family?s doctor for treatment of minor injuries.
