Two vehicles totaled in Henry County wreck
Oct. 20, 2021 8:59 am
On Oct. 12 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office took multiple reports of a two-vehicle collision which occurred at the intersection of Highway 78 and Highway 218. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, an investigation determined a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Thomas Jacobsmeier, 63, of Hillsboro, was traveling northbound near the intersection of Highway 78. At the same time, a 2011 Nissan Rogue, driven by Ray Carlin, 72 of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling west on Highway 78. The Carlin vehicle approached the stop sign at Highway 78 and Highway 218.
According to witnesses, the Carlin vehicle came to a stop then proceeded into the intersection in front of the Jacobsmeier vehicle. This caused the Jacobsmeier vehicle to collide with the Carlin vehicle. Both vehicles were considered totaled.
No injuries were reported at the scene, and the vehicles were towed from the scene.
Carlin was cited for failure to obey and yield right of way from a stop sign and failure to provide proof of security against liability-accident related.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Henry County Health Center Ambulance, Henry County Engineer’s Office, Wayland Fire and Rescue, Winfield Fire and Rescue and Olds Fire and Rescue.
