U-turn accident on 218 wrecks two vehicles

Two cars were badly damaged after a driver’s attempt to turn around led to a crash last Wednesday night.

“Kathleen Rohe was traveling Southbound on Hwy 218 when she missed her turn at 287th Street,” said a preliminary accident report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. “Rohe attempted to do a U-Turn when she turned in front of Mary Madden who was also Southbound. Maddens’ vehicle struck Rohe causing severe damage to both.”

Both vehicles were towed and both drivers were transported to the Washington County Hospital, Rohe by ambulance and Madden by a private vehicle.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Ambulance, Crawfordsville Fire, Crawfordsville QRS, Washington Rescue, and Iowa State Patrol all assisted at the scene according to the report.
