The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has announced several blood drives this month:

Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church blood drive, Parish Hall, 201 Academy Avenue. Donors who last gave blood on or before July 19 are eligible. To donate, call MVRBC at 800-747-5401 ext. 119..

Friday, Sept. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Henry County Health Center blood drive, Health Education Canter, 407 S. White Street, Mt. Pleasant. Donors who last gave blood on or before July 22 are eligible. To donate, call MVRBC at (800) 747-5401 ext. 119.

Monday, Sept. 19, 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: First Presbyterian Church blood drive, Fellowship Hall, 902 S. Walnut Street, Mt. Pleasant. Those who last gave blood on or before July 25 are eligible. To donate call Esther Wonderlich at 319-986-5851

Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that only takes about an hour. Donors must be at least 16 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo ID is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form, available from the Blood Center or for download from www.bloodcenter.org.

Controlled high blood pressure and diabetics are acceptable.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the exclusive provider of blood to Great River Medical Center, Henry County Health Center and all area hospitals.
