DES MOINES - The average price received by farmers for corn during March 2024 in Iowa was $4.43 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service — Agricultural Prices report. This was 4 cents above the February price but $2.27 below March 2023.
The March 2024 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $11.70 per bushel, was unchanged from the February price but $3.20 below the March 2023 price.
All hay prices in Iowa averaged $158.00 per ton in March. This was $11.00 below the February price and $25.00 below the March 2023 price. The March 2024 alfalfa hay price, at $164.00, was $11.00 below the previous month and $25.00 below March 2023. The average price received for other hay during March was $139.00 per ton. This was $10.00 below the February price and $23.00 below March last year.
The average price for milk was $19.10 per cwt, 10 cents above the February price but $1.30 below March 2023. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $2,170 per head as of April 1, 2024.
