KEOSAUQUA ? Van Buren Community School District is searching for a new elementary principal.
Terry Eisenbarth, who was hired last summer to replace retiring Chuck Russell, submitted his resignation April 23 after he was hired for a similar position at Mount Vernon.
In his resignation letter, Eisenbarth stated, ?I have thoroughly enjoyed my year at Van Buren and apologize for the inconvenience. I wish the Van Buren Community School District the best of luck in the future.?
Eisenbarth, a graduate of the Van Buren school district, said. ?It?s a bittersweet feeling because to be honest, I am happy here. However, I got an opportunity that was too good to pass up. I feel it?s what?s best for my family. I really appreciate the support this community and school district gave us. It?s hard leaving my hometown, but it?s an opportunity, too.?
The Mount Vernon school board approved Eisenbarth?s hiring on April 19. The Van Buren school board held a special meeting April 26 to accept his resignation.
