Aug. 28, 2024 2:16 pm
KEOSAUQUA – The Van Buren Community School District announced that high school student Robert Adams died in a single-vehicle collision on his way to work earlier this week.
The district made the announcement on its Facebook page Sunday, Aug. 28. Roberts was a junior in high school who was involved in sports and a member of the student council, the district said.
Superintendent Jeremy Hissem wrote on the district’s page, “We will work with the AEA to provide extra support for our staff and students. We will communicate service information once they're finalized. Our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and loved ones.”
In a subsequent post, the district indicated that Van Buren County High School Gymnasium will host an event to honor the memory of Adams from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, with a brief memorial service to follow.
“We invite everyone to come together to celebrate Robert's life and support each other during this time,” the district stated.
