Van Buren nips IMS in district final
The Van Buren baseball team is moving on up.
The Warriors defeated Iowa Mennonite School in the district final game in Fairfield Saturday by a score of 5-2.
Van Buren scored two runs in the third and three in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. IMS plated two in the sixth but that was all the scoring they had in them.

The Van Buren baseball team is moving on up.
The Warriors defeated Iowa Mennonite School in the district final game in Fairfield Saturday by a score of 5-2.
Van Buren scored two runs in the third and three in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. IMS plated two in the sixth but that was all the scoring they had in them.
Brandon Plecker went 2-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base. Will Mertens was 2-3 with two runs, a steal and a walk. Garrett Saunders went 1-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Robby Laughlin walked and drove in a run. Tyson Sprouse was 1-2 with a double and an RBI. Robert Barker scored a run. Noah Whitten picked up a single.
Sprouse started and earned the victory for the Warriors. He threw 5.1 innings while allowing two earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out seven. Laughlin pitched 1.2 innings and surrendered no runs on no walks with one hit and two punchouts.
