WEST CHESTER — The West Chester Heritage Building — a former school turned community gathering place in the city of 144 residents — will host comedian K-von this weekend.
West Chester Heritage Association President Dean Greiner said it would be the Vegas comedian’s second stop in the small town.
“We have actually become pretty good friends, I’ve seen him a couple different places and a couple different times,” he said. “I reached out to him to come back and help us out.”
Proceeds from the event will go toward plans to repair the building’s roof via matching funds with the Riverboat foundation. Greiner said that goal was closer than ever.
“Our plans have changed a little bit from going for a whole new roof to working with what is there,” he said. “It’s a pitched roof with a skin on it, and this gentleman think he can repair that skin, which would save us a ton of money. If we are able to go with that route, we are really close to the matching funds.”
The roof has long been a target of the Heritage Association. Greiner said it remained a top priority.
“We are preserving this old building,” he said. “We feel like it’s an important part of the West Chester heritage and the landscape … it’s over 100 years old, and we still feel like its an integral part of the city of West Chester.”
Tickets are $30, and cover the price of a small taco bar meal before the show. While tea and lemonade will be provided, Greiner said audience members were welcome to bring their own adult beverages. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, and the show begins at 7:30. Greiner said the show was appropriate for ages 15 and up.
Those interested can reach out to Greiner for tickets: his number is 319-653-1990.
