Vera ?Rosalie? Edwards

Vera ?Rosalie? Edwards, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Arbor Court.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Olson-Powell Chapel, with Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Home Cemetery.

Edwards was born on Nov. 8, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Harvey X and Ruth Bernice (Hummell) Long. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1945. On Nov. 22, 1945, she married Leroy Jr. Edwards. He preceded her in death.

She was a housewife and had worked several part-time jobs outside of the home. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, doing Circle-a-Word puzzles, baking and playing with her grandchildren.

She attended Oakland Mills Community Church and Lincoln Street Baptist Church.

Edwards is survived by her children, Jack (Margaret) Edwards, of Mt. Pleasant; Shari Riddle, of Burlington; Pam (Fred) Jewett, and David (Maureen) Edwards, all of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Louie Long, of Cloud Croft, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy; and her sister, Joy Gordy.
