Piano Duettists Vijay Venkatesh & Eva Schaumkell will perform as part of the Washington Performing Arts Series on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Their show at the Washington Auditorium is largely classical, featuring Bach, Brahms, and Mozart, but their repertoire also includes some Gershwin and other familiar tunes, according to a news release from The Washington Performing Arts & Events Center and Washington Concert Association.
“Members and concertgoers will be in for a unique entertainment experience,” the news release said. “Together Vieness provide a sensory experience for audiences who get to see their magical coordination sharing one keyboard, while listening to the complexities of beautiful melodies.”
Venkatesh is a native of California with a doctorate from USC, who has studied and performed around the world as a soloist and appeared on From the Top on NPR.
Schaumkell is a native of Germany who is a doctoral student at USC in Los Angeles. She has performed all over the U.S., Europe, and Middle East, playing plenty of famed venues, including Buckingham Palace.
The duo enjoys communicating with the audience, sharing information on the composers, the piece, and the experiences of performing throughout the show, according to the news release.
Tickets are available online or at the door. Masks and social distancing in the auditorium are recommended.
