Vine Avenue work begins Monday
Aug. 26, 2021 10:13 am
On Monday, Washington County will begin maintenance patching on two miles of Vine Avenue (Old 218) from Columbus Street in Crawfordsville, south two miles.
Contractor LL Pelling of North Liberty will make repairs to the deteriorated surface of Vine Avenue.
This project will improve the ride and extend the life of the pavement and is being done now as a short-term repair until enough money is saved for a project that will provide a long-term pavement.
During the time the contractor is working, traffic will be restricted to local access only and may be one lane at a time.
Travel through the work zone will be aided with the use of flaggers, but motorists are urged to avoid the work zone to allow the contractor to be more efficient with the work.
The work is expected to take about one week, weather permitting, with patching and milling expected to take place Monday and Tuesday and the overlay later in the week.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the construction zone and pay attention to roadway signage for directions through the area.
Questions about the project can be directed to the Washington County Engineer’s Office at 319-653-7731.
