FT. MADISON ? Bo Vitale scored all three of the Panthers? goals in a 3-2, overtime win against Ft. Madison on Thursday.
The Mt. Pleasant boys? soccer team got revenge on the Bloodhounds in the away match. Earlier this season, Ft. Madison came to East Lake Park and defeated the Panthers by the same score, 3-2.
This time, Mt. Pleasant was determined to turn the tables.
The Panthers scored first, and maintained a 1-0 lead through the first half. But Ft. Madison wasn?t going to give up the game that easily, and the teams played to a 2-2 tie through the end of regulation.
The game went into an overtime period, and that?s when Vitale netted his third goal of the night to claim the victory for the Panthers and a hat trick for himself.
Liam Clancy aided Vitale in the offensive effort, recording all three assists.
?Nick Lyon led the defensive unit with multiple headed balls to keep the Bloodhound?s out of scoring position,? Coach Neil Schmitz said.
The Panthers are now 5-6 on the season and they upped their record to 2-5 in the Southeast Conference.
They will play again this weekend when they travel to Notre Dame. The match begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
