WINFIELD ? The Winfield-Mt. Union Community School District will be upping its security as school board members approved a bid for new door security during their meeting last week.
Board members approved a door security bid from Johnson Controls for $2,224 during their meeting on Wednesday, March 14.
Carmen Benson, the district?s business manager, said the district would be enhancing the doors they currently have. ?The main doors will now be locked, so we will be completely locked around our perimeter,? she said.
Guests to the school will now have to buzz in at the door and be let in.
During the meeting, the board also approved a bid from DeSpain of $5,947 for wall plastering.
In other business, the school board approved the 2018-19 school calendar. School will begin on Thursday, Aug. 23. The school board also set a public hearing for the Fiscal Year 2019 budget. The hearing will be held on April 11, at 6 p.m., in the school?s media center.
Benson said the district?s levy, should the budget be approved, will raise 37-cents to $12.58 per $1,000 valuation.
