On Wednesday, the Winfield-Mt. Union Community School District Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting.
The first order of business was to elect a president and vice president of the board. This year, Klay Edwards and Dan Schurr switched positions as Schurr accepted the nomination for the presidency and Edwards took over as vice president.
Following the oath, the board approved keeping its meeting times the same ? at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month in the school?s media center.
Peoples State Bank, Pilot Grove Savings Bank and PMA/GPS were selected as official depositories with $2 million limits each.
Additionally, Drew Bracken and Ahlers Law Firm were authorized as the school?s attorney.
Outside of the organizational meeting, the board only had two actionable items. The first was to consider an allowable growth request for the special education deficit. However, Business Director Carmen Benson said there was no deficit this year so no action was taken.
The board did approve participation in the Iowa Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
The next meeting of the W-MU School Board will be held on Oct. 12, 2016, at 6 p.m., in the school?s media center.
