WAYLAND ? Facing a light agenda, Wayland City Council members approved final payment for this summer?s Cummings Street reconstruction project, approved a change in the firefighter constitution and natural gas installation on the 3300 grid of Wayland Road.
Jones Contracting Company of West Point will receive its 5-percent retention of $22,358.57 for the Cummings Street project.
Language changes in the firefighter constitution included a driver training requirement for firefighters and changing the fiscal year from July 1 to June 30. Formerly, the constitution?s fiscal year was synonymous with the calendar year.
Council members approved sharing the expense of natural gas installation with the property owner to a new grain bin on the 3300 grid of Wayland Road.
Finally, the council approved authorizing the mayor to sign an Iowa Department of Revenue Power of Attorney for city tax matters (sales tax, use tax, withholding), listing the city clerk as representative.
The next regular council meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.
