WACO FFA chapter reinstated
Oct. 24, 2021 11:16 am
After more than 30 years since the previous program, WACO High School is bringing back agricultural education.
Starting at the beginning of this 2021 school year, students at WACO High School had the opportunity to enroll in agriculture classes.
Topics include plant science, animal science, mechanics, introduction to agriculture and a middle school exploratory class. Classroom learning is one key component to agricultural education.
A second component to agricultural education is the FFA chapter.
On Sept. 22, the charter documents were approved by the Iowa and National FFA and the chapter was officially reinstated.
In order for this to happen, the chapter had to adopt a constitution, create a program of activities and select an officer team to lead the chapter.
There are currently 62 active members in the FFA chapter.
The chapter has been off to a busy start as members have volunteered with the Red Flag Car Tour in Wayland, attended an Explore Ag event through ISU Extension services, taken first place at a livestock judging competition and attended a leadership conference for new members.
They will also be sending representatives to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this year.
