Bill Walker wants to change the direction of county government. Walker is running for the Washington County Board of Supervisors in District 3, currently represented by Steve Davis. Walker is a Republican and says that high taxes are a problem in Washington County.
?We are the fifth-highest taxed county in the state of Iowa,? he said. ?We don?t bring businesses to town by taxing people. I believe businesses create the environment for growth. Politicians don?t create the environment for growth.?
Walker has spent the last 12 years working for Pre Paid Legal Services, helping people protect themselves from identity theft. He recently resigned as the senior regional vice president of the firm so he could focus on campaigning.
The recent passage of county zoning was what prompted Walker to enter the race. He doesn?t like the fact that the county will now have to hire a zoning administrator.
