Walmart evacuated Tuesday morning
The Walmart in Washington was evacuated Tuesday morning at about 9 a.m. because of a possible gas leak. Assistant Manager Jonathan Ford said Walmart alerted Alliant Energy and the Fire Department of an odor in the building that was believed to be natural gas. The Walmart in Washington was evacuated Tuesday morning at about 9 a.m. because of a possible gas leak. Assistant Manager Jonathan Ford said Walmart alerted Alliant Energy and the Fire Department of an odor in the building that was believed to be natural gas. Walmart closed down for about 20 minutes while Alliant Energy and the Fire Department tested for natural gas. Ford said that, upon investigation, there was no evidence of a gas leak and that the odor was in fact sewer gas.
