MT. PLEASANT — The Henry Count Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that warrants have been issued in a case of “Stolen Valor.”
In a news release, Sheriff Rich McNamee said that on May 2, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a concerned citizen reporting a potential case of “Stolen Valor.”
It was reported a benefit motorcycle ride was held for Christopher Williams, 45 of Oxford Junction, in Mt. Pleasant in September 2020.
An investigation into the incident determined that Williams was portraying to be a veteran of the armed forces and had received over $4,500 in monetary gain from the motorcycle ride.
The release said that several attempts were made to verify Williams’ veteran status, but no records were ever found of Williams being a member of the armed forces.
On July 11, Williams was charged with fraudulent practice in the 2nd degree, a Class D felony. Warrants have been issued for Williams’ arrest.
