FORT MADISON ? Led by Payten Hughes? medalist score of 48, the Van Buren girls? edged Holy Trinity 234-235 in Thursday golf action at Fort Madison Walton Club.
Van Buren?s Monica Chapuis, Lydia Heald and Meredith Miller each shot 62. Alternates were Maddisen Hughes (64) and Callie Stribling (69).

Van Buren?s Monica Chapuis, Lydia Heald and Meredith Miller each shot 62. Alternates were Maddisen Hughes (64) and Callie Stribling (69).
Hughes has now been medalist at four straight meets to open the season, and the Warriors have a 4-0 record to show for it.
The Warrior boys, meanwhile, lost to Holy Trinity by the final score of 170-200.
Taylor Allen and Brandon Plecker each shot a 47 to lead Van Buren. Ryan Nelson scored a 52 and Jacob Jones fired a 54 to complete the team score. Noah Whitten?s 55 and Drew Nolting?s 57 were alternate scores.
The Van Buren golf teams are back in action Friday at home vs. Danville.
