WASHINGTON - Lincoln Elementary School is getting a new playground.
The Washington school board approved purchasing the playground equipment to be installed this summer.
Superintendent Willie Stone said they're going to buy the equipment before accepting a concrete bid. He said if they do not purchase the equipment now it may not arrive until late June or July and will not be able to be installed during the summer.
Lincoln students and staff have been raising money toward the project for more than three years and has nearly raised $100,000 to replace the current 23-year-old equipment.
The total cost of the equipment is $208,757. The cost includes the equipment, instillation and poured-in place rubber for fall protection.
Stone said now that the equipment is approved, the exact design details can be given to the engineers to design the concrete base and bids will be taken in the future.
