WASHINGTON — The Employer Support of the Guard Reserve presented two awards to Washington area business supervisors on Tuesday, naming the YMCA’s Shalon Hoyle and Agriland FS’ John McCullough as “Patriotic Employers.”
The award from the DoD program is meant to honor bosses who support members of the National Guard before, during and after deployment in any number of ways.
Employers like Hoyle and McCullough “are vital to the success of our mission and the defense of this nation,” ESGR Chair Rebecca Coady said in a statement. “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employers support them 100 percent.”
McCullough and Hoyle were both thanked by service members’ families for their “willingness to adapt to changing dates and times for military schooling, training and deployment,” according to a fact sheet released by ESGR.
