Washington Chamber seeks volunteers
Apr. 19, 2023 10:19 am
WASHINGTON — In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, the Washington Chamber of Commerce is thanking its many volunteers, and encouraging other members to get involved if they have not already.
The Chamber offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year for those interested in giving back to the community. Whether it’s volunteering your time to register attendees at workforce training sessions or running kid booths during the Summer Classic, the Chamber has opportunities for everyone.
One of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities is being a volunteer at the Chamber’s Welcome Center.
“We are always seeking friendly individuals who are passionate about our town,” stated a news release from the Chamber. “Your job is to welcome visitors to our community and let them know how happy we are to have them here. Tourism is one of Iowa’s greatest resources.”
The Chamber recognizes its Welcome Center Volunteers who help with many projects: Pam Green, Becky Patterson, Jolene Colthurst, Illa Earnest, Margaret Zieglowsky, Millie Youngquist, Jo Ross, Gary Murphy, Clyde Pearce, Kelly Stucker, and Bernice Darby.
“You all are so valuable and hold many talents. Thank you for all you do!” stated the Chamber.
Those interested in volunteering should contact April Cuddeback, Chamber Event Director, at events@washingtoniowa.org or 319-591-0859.
The Chamber is looking for some bright community-driven individuals who enjoy light reception work and “love our town as much as we do.” Someone with computer skills would be great but not needed. The Chamber typically offers two different time slots: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1-5 p.m., but are willing to be flexible. Those interested in this opportunity can contact Mikayla Slechta, the Outreach Coordinator, at 319-653-3272 or mikayla@washingtoniowa.org.
