Area employers are looking for good employees.
Job seekers and employers will have the opportunity to get matched at the Washington Job Fair on April 6 at the Washington YMCA.
The Washington YMCA and Washington Area Chamber of Commerce are partnering for the job fair, which will run from 8 a.m.-noon.
'We found some areas in the community were lacking or missing something,” YMCA Director of Marketing and Fundraising Angie Goodwin said. 'I noticed that, here, we had trouble finding people.”
The YMCA worked with the Chamber to survey area businesses to see if they were facing the same need.
The response was that many businesses are looking for good people right now.
With that information, the two organizations decided to put together a job fair.
'We currently have 22 employers signed up,” Goodwin said. 'They're all pretty much local.
'There are lots of businesses with career opportunities open and interested in finding good candidates.”
Participating companies are seeking to fill full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.
'There are plenty of openings for people to fill,” Goodwin said. 'There a lot of companies with lots of job openings looking for the right people for their team.”
This is the first go-round for the job fair.
'This is our first time, so it's a little tough to determine how many people will participate,” Goodwin said. 'Anyone interested just needs to show up.”
