The Washington City Council had a special meeting this morning at 11 a.m. to approve a time-sensitive grant application and a resolution.
The council approved a grant application to go toward funding the city?s update to its comprehensive plan.
?This is an opportunity to get money from the state government,? said city administrator Dave Plyman.
Plyman remarked that the city has not updated its comprehensive plan since 1998, and that it is time to do so. He said the cost of the project ? which requires hiring consultants to update the plan ? would be about $60,000. He said the grant would cover about half of that cost.
?The grant will cover about half of our expense but no more than $50,000,? said Plyman. ?There are different levels of payment depending on who?s applying.?
