WASHINGTON — Washington County 4-H hosted its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 20 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The event was held from 7-10:30 a.m. serving pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, juice, milk and coffee. Over 800 people enjoyed the breakfast meal served by a combined effort of 90 4-H members and adult volunteers.
About 150 pounds of pancake mix, 800 eggs, 35 gallons of milk/OJ, and three processed hogs of sausage were consumed by visitors at the fundraiser. Money raised will support the 4-H enrollment fees of the Washington County 4-H members.
This was the first year Mike Berdo served as the 4-H pancake breakfast chairman.
“I enjoy volunteering, it’s fun to work with people that have the vision of making Washington County 4-H the best in the state, which, we are currently number one in the state for enrollment,” he said. “Fifteen-plus years ago Vicki Fisher built this fundraiser to what it is today, and when a new chairman was needed, I volunteered.”
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the morning possible with special thanks to the early morning crew of Mike Berdo, Duane Hammen, John Marek, Brian Eakins, John Wagner, Bill Ebert, Michelle & Scott Bartholomew, Katie McWhirter and so many more 4-H volunteers, leaders, members and parents.
