WASHINGTON - The Washington Community Center will not hold its summer musical and the building will remain closed until September, according to a statement released on its Facebook page.
On April 6, staff announced the summer production of Roald Dahl's 'Willy Wonka” that was to take place June 19-21 and 26-28 had been canceled. Due to the building being closed, auditions and production meetings were not able to take place.
'In these uncertain times when gathering is not in the public interest we can't ask that folks plan on being together in May or June for what would have been the rehearsal process,” the post reads.
All season ticket holders could expect to receive a mailing detailing how refunds would be handled, it said. The production will not be rescheduled.
On June 3, staff announced the building would remain closed until September due to 'the uncertainties in the safety of gatherings.” Camp Creamery, previously scheduled for Aug. 3-8, has been canceled and all participants have received refunds.
'We're working on cleaning and upgrading our facilities while we're closed so that we can look forward to a hopefully brighter 2021,” the post reads.
