Washington council OKs Central Park events

WASHINGTON - Area groups are preparing for summer fun.
A variety of summer events were approved March 16 to be held in Central Park.
The Washington County Hospital and Clinics will be holding KidzFest on Friday, May 21, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The theme of the event is 'hiking to help,” said event coordinator Greta Clemons.
'KidzFest is a long-running health fair promoting health, wellness and safety to our youth in Washington and the surrounding communities,” Clemons said in a memo.
Event coordinator Alisha Davis presented a variety of Chamber of Commerce summer events.
A craft fair will be held in the spring this year.
On May 8 a craft fair will be held with a variety of vendors.
Davis said there are around 70 vendors already signed up.
The Thursday Night Live Concert series will continue this summer. Musicians will perform during the Farmers Market June 3 through Aug. 12. Davis said there is not a confirmed lineup yet.
On June 4 the Summer Classic Family Day will take place and on June 5 the Summer Classic Ag Day and Ridiculous Day will take place.
On July 29 a Chair-A-Thon Auction will take place at the Bandstand.
On Sept. 11, the annual Fall Craft Fair will take place. Later that night, the Flightline Live Concert will take place at the Washington Municipal Airport.
Sunday Night Church in the Park will take place on a variety of days through the summer. Matthew Streeter, a traveling evangelist with Deliver His Message Ministries and a member of the Washington First Assembly of God will have church services at Central Park. From 3 to 9 p.m., on May 30, June 27, July 25, Aug. 29, Streeter will have a church service with music and instruments.
