Washington County auditor taking absentee ballot requests

Beginning Wednesday, May 18, absentee ballots will be available for the June 7 Washington County primary election for voters who wish to vote absentee by mail or in-person at the Auditor’s Office.
Voters planning to vote absentee by mail must first complete, sign and submit a request form. These completed requests can be received by the Auditor’s Office up to 70 days before an election, although no ballots will be mailed out before May 18.
Voters must also indicate their choice of Republican or Democratic ballot.
The request forms may be obtained from the Washington County Auditor’s Office or the following websites: co.washington.ia.us or sos.iowa.gov. Requests for absentee ballots may be delivered or mailed to the Washington County Auditor, 222 West Main Street, Box 889, Washington, IA 52353, and must be received in the Auditor’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, May 23.
Auditor’s Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, May 23; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, June 3; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday June 4.
