WASHINGTON — Scrap processing company Reschly Metals, Inc. has been fined a $1,500 fine from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, according to an order signed by DNR Director Kayla Lyon.
The document cited Reschly Metals for a handful of non-compliance issues.
“On October 5, 2021, DNR (staff) received a complaint alleging that burning had been occurring … creating thick black smoke,” it said. “Staff investigated the complaint and observed evidence of open burning, the illegal storage of solid waste, and the illegal storage and demanufacturing of appliances.”
On top of the $1,500 penalty, the DNR ordered the company to cease demanufacturing until it can acquire a permit to resume from the state.
Business owner Terry Reschly declined to comment.
