The Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to pave two entrances of Eichelberger Milling Inc. along Wayland Road at its Tuesday morning meeting.
“We decided to, along that stretch, use concrete shoulders on the road,” county Engineer Jacob Thorius said. “During that time we’ve had some conversations with the Eichelbergers about mutually beneficial paving of their driveways.”
Thorius said the paved driveways would help prevent potholes and support the facility’s heavy traffic during harvest season.
“With all the hundred-plus trucks in and out per day here in about a month, that’s the amount of grain going in and out of that facility,” he said.
The company would pay $55,000 for its share of the pavement, according to the contract approved by the board.
