Washington County received word last week that it has received a $25,000 grant from the Wellmark Foundation for Phase 2 of the Kewash Trail Paving and Enhancements project.
The grant will help pay for the grading and paving of nearly a mile and a half of existing Kewash Nature Trail.
Phase 2 will extend west to the Crooked Creek pedestrian bridge.
The bridge is a scenic location in Washington County where many residents and visitors seek out as a safe place for serenity, relaxation and recreation.
The Matching Assets to Community Health (MATCH) grant is contingent upon securing a 50 percent match, which can be cash or in-kind services or donations.
Recipients have until Nov. 6 to secure the matching funds.
Washington County was one of 28 organizations to receive a grant award.
