Washington County road closed for bridge replacement

WASHINGTON - Beginning Monday, Jan. 27, 130th Street will be closed approximately a half mile east of Hickory Avenue, in the northwest part of Washington County, for a bridge replacement project.

The project consists of replacing the existing bridge over Lime Creek with a Triple 10'x12'x50' reinforced concrete box culvert. The existing bridge is being replaced because it is currently posted with a weight restriction and is narrow, creating a four mile detour for larger vehicles and equipment to get around in the area. Iowa Bridge and Culvert, L.C. of Washington, Iowa was awarded the project with a bid of $393,547.90 and they expect the project to take approximately 2-3 months depending on the weather.
