Participants, coaches and spectators at Washington school district spring sports will be following the same mitigation guidelines as they did for fall and winter sports.
On Monday night, the Washington school board unanimously approved the guidelines, which are in line with guidelines issued by the Iowa Girls High School Athletics Union and the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
'Coaches and athletes will follow the same guidelines as fall and winter sports,” Superintendent Willie Stone said.
Those guidelines call for coaches and athletes to wear masks when not playing.
Spectators will not be required to wear masks.
'All spectators will be strongly encouraged to social distance and wear masks at outdoor events,” Stone said.
He added that frequent reminders would be made over the public address system to remind spectators of those recommendations.
