WASHINGTON — City officials have sped along with approval for planning and zoning of a possible Quick Visit Urgent Care location in Washington near Walmart. Those involved in the process said they needed to close a deal by the month’s end.
“Our clients have told us … if they cannot close on the sale of the property by the last day of August, that it probably won’t happen,” said Richard Bordwell, an attorney representing Palm Development Company, at the last City Council meeting. “From the time you approve it, it has to be filed at the courthouse and processed there, and that takes a few days … we can’t just come in the last day of the month, have it approved here, and make that deadline.”
The Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council held special meetings on Aug. 19 and Aug. 23, respectively, in an effort to move the item along.
“I will not stand in the way of that closing, but I will have to wait on the final (plat) to go through the proper P&Z procedure,” Mayor Jaron Rosien said. “The moment it does, I can reach out to council.”
The final plat passed with unanimous approval from all those present at both meetings.
Bordwell said the facility would be finished before the end of the year, assuming everything went as planned.
“We appreciate the cooperation the city has given us,” Bordwell said. “There’s a lot of people involved in this, so it’s a lot of coordination.”
