WASHINGTON — Volunteers will flip pancakes, grill sausages and serve up eggs to community members Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Washington Fire Department’s biggest annual fundraiser.
Fire Chief Brendan DeLong said the group was raising money for a LUCAS device, an emergency medical machine that offers CPR without a risk of fatigue or mistakes by human responders. The going rate for such a device is around $20,000.
“We’ve been raising, so this will help go toward that,” DeLong said. “The community usually supports us really well, so I don’t really know if we have a goal or target in mind, we just look to get as much as we can (and) have everybody for another year.”
The fire department will serve two meals on the day, according to a promotional Facebook Page for the event: a lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Those interested can also stop by for takeout meals.
Tickets are free for anyone younger than six years old, $8 for those ages 6-10, and $10 for adults. Tickets are available by contacting the station, or any member of the Washington Fire Department.
