WASHINGTON — Members of the Washington Tree Committee thanked the nonprofit “Trees Forever” during their annual report to the Washington City Council last week, naming organization as the committee’s supporter of the year.
Committee member Andy Dahl said at least 46 of its projects and over $125,000 of its grant funding in the last 30 years were directly attributable to support from the organization, totaling 4,875 trees planted in the city.
“None of this would have been possible without Trees Forever,” he said. “We look forward to years to come of this relationship, this partnership.”
During the report, Tree Committee Chair Marde McConnell said the tree committee had planted at city hall, WCDC supported living homes and the Willow Pond area of the Kewash Nature Trail in the last year. In 2023, the group has a planting scheduled at the Wellness Park, as well as another tree giveaway on the calendar.
“2022 was the, ‘coming back from COVID’ year,” she said. “It was very exciting for us.”
