A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage this weekend as Washington High School presents “Schoolhouse Rock Live!”
“Schoolhouse Rock Live!” follows Tom (Hunter Rarik), a nerve-wracked schoolteacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching.
He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction."
“It’s a preview of a lot of the Schoolhouse Rock songs tied together with a plot about Tom, a teacher on his first day,” cast member Hannah Rees said. “All of the most popular songs are in it.”
Director Brett Pierson said many of the cast members were able to sing the Preamble song from Day 1 of rehearsal.
“They all knew it,” Pierson said.
Other cast members include Bailey Rees (Shulie), Hannah Rees (Dori) and Milly Klinzman (Dina).
Joe and George are played by Quinn Wubben, Kevin Flannery, Keegan Colby and Levi Applegate
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m., April 23 and 24, and 2:30 p.m., April 25.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Masks are required for all attendees.
