WASHINGTON — The Washington Free Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking a new member, after Rick Hofer announced he did not plan to seek a second term on the body.
Hofer will vacate one of two seats reserved for a rural representative, which means his replacement must also live in rural Washington County, and that any newcomer will require both a mayoral appointment and approval from the Washington County Board of Supervisors.
Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried said viewpoints from outside the city helped to ensure a balanced leadership team.
“We're looking for Washington County residents who want to be involved in shaping the future of library services for our community,” she said. “Having a board with diverse perspectives and experiences is so important to providing excellent library services, and so we're looking forward to adding a new member to the board to help us continue to improve and develop.”
Applications for the six-year position are available at the library or its website. The term begins July 1, 2023, but candidacy submissions are due by May 23, 2023, according to the application materials.
